If you're a venue who hosts touring productions and uses Audience Finder, it’s likely you would have been asked to approve Show Stats requests, to share audience data at some point.

If it’s your first time, or if your GDPR alarm bells are ringing, here’s a useful guide to exactly what this means (you can silence those bells).

What does a Show Stats request look like?

A Show Stats request is an automated email from our Show Stats platform, see an example below.

The email is triggered when a touring company that has performed at your venue, uses their Show Stats account to request access to an audience report for their performance.

What action do I need to take when I receive a request?

When you receive a request, check the details to make sure you're happy that the performance and company tally with the event you hosted. Once you’re happy, sign into your Show Stats account here and follow the instructions within the email to approve the request.

What data will the touring company be able to access when I approve this request?

Once approved, the touring company will be able to access a one-sheet report providing useful information on their audiences, including:

  • Number of tickets sold
  • Average yield per booking
  • Top 10 postcode districts
  • Booking lead time
  • First time bookers
  • Group size
  • Audience Spectrum breakdown
  • Mosaic UK / Mosaic Scotland breakdown

Will any personal information (like names or contact details) be shared with the company?

Never. Show Stats is 100% GDPR compliant.

The service was designed as a sister tool to Audience Finder, to support the sharing of audience analytics between touring companies and host venues, without the need to share the data itself.

Will touring organisations be able to access insights for our wider audience?

No. Show Stats only provides touring organisations with access to insights for their own audiences at your venue.

What happens if I don’t approve a request?

If a legitimate request is made from a touring company to access insights for their own audience at your venue, we strongly recommend you approve.

Providing touring organisations with easy access to insights enables evidence-based audience development activity and better targeted marketing campaigns, and ultimately means you’ll both mutually benefit from larger audiences the next time they visit. Not to mention that you may be hampering an organisation’s ability to fulfil funding requirements, if you do not approve.

For this reason, reminders will be sent on a regular basis if your organisation has any outstanding Show Stats requests.

I’m not the best person in my organisation to approve requests, can I update your contact information?

Yes please. Drop an email to support@theaudienceagency.org to let us know if there’s a better person to receive these requests.

Can I access a production level report from Show Stats for my organisation’s own events?

Yes! Show Stats is a great tool for venues as well as touring companies. Find out how to set up a Show Stats account here
